Plot

Star Performance
Thomasin McKenzie excels in Jean Purdy’s role. Her emotional performance showcases the struggle of Jean so naturally. Her oscillation between religious beliefs and faith in science is well showcased. James Norton is impressive in his emotional role, and the same goes for Bill Nighy. The entire weight of the film was rested on their shoulders, which they balanced well.
Analysis
As it is a biographical drama, the story is predictable. Certain scenes are lengthy, especially the scenes they face while implementing the procedure. Though the first half is pretty decent, the second half makes one feel too stretched in the entire runtime. However, the emotional moments are high, and they attract the audience. The minor humorous scenes, the perfect script, and the neat performances make the movie engaging. The climax is impressive, with satisfactory moments, making us remember the real heroes behind every innovation.

Verdict
The film has strong performances despite its stretchy screenplay in the second half. However, it is worth watching once!
