Ranjana Mitra

Ranjana Mitra is a Hindi Creative Producer and Deputy Editor for Disney+ Hotstar for producing original series for India’s biggest SVOD platform. Ranjana has experience in developing and producing large-scale scripted series. She has a network of creative tales that enables her to transform concepts into content on screen. As a deputy editor of Disney+ Hotstar, she is responsible for helping deliver the companies subscription and revenue goals by managing Showrunners, Producers, Content Creators, and the internal team that drives legal, commercial, and tech workflows. She did her Bachelor of Arts in English, Political Science and History from Presidency University, Kolkata, where she produced and directed theatre festival: DRAMA TIES, in collaboration with British Council- editor, Unpresidented, Presidency in-house magazines one art and literature. She got her Postgraduation Diploma from the Asian College of Journalism in Broadcast Television, Documentary Filmmaking, Film Studies, Art, and Culture. Ranjana directed Kaththirukirom, a documentation on caste conflicts, agriculture, migration, and water issues in Chennai, Madhuri district. She went to S I Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University to do her Master of Arts in Television, Radio, and Film. She was the teaching assistant in documentary production, radio, after effects, broadcast, and digital journalism and was awarded the Newhouse Graduate scholar award for academic excellence in 2011.

She was the Director ofthe short films called Never Have I Ever and Caught In The Rain. Ranjana was the Producer for the Short Film, The Prophecy Thief, and Co-wrote a research paper on American Tween Shows. Ranjana started as an intern in news and features for NDTV; as a reporter for Times Now, where she was a feature writer – action city, focusing on urban issues across India; scripted bulletins- The Newshour, Morning News and live report as an international news bulletin in cooperation with Reuters. She was the Associate Producer and interactive feature at UTV I business news channel. She was in the Development and Feature Films at the Mandalay Entertainment Group in Los Angeles.

She worked as OTT partnerships and acquisitions at the Pan global entertainment; as a production assistant at the Part 2 pictures; as film distribution, North America at UTV; as an Executive Producer at Rungrez Films.
