Analysis
The film has a great cast and concept, but the film suffers because of the overcomplicated pace and storyline. The film has too much happening and too many things to keep track of. The unnecessary complexity makes the film boring.
What’s There?
• A stellar cast with Jodie Foster, Sofia Boutella, Dave Bautista, Sterling K. Brown, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, and Charlie Day
• The film has a unique concept of a criminal specifically for criminals, an enigmatic doctor, a gathering of criminals, and future technology
• Jodie Foster gives a spectacular performance in the film
What’s Not There?
• The film spends too much time on the buildup, causing the ending to seem disappointing
• The film is not well paced
Verdict
The film depicts a lawless, dystopian future, with chaos and disorder all around. The hotel in the film is the very symbol of such moral ruin as the hotel only caters to its criminal clientele. The concept is unique and the performances in the film are good. The film would be a good watch for science-fiction, action, and crime genre enthusiasts.
