Plot

Ryan Pierce is a middle-aged married woman and one of the best-selling authors, known by the title of “the next Oprah”. She decides to organize a trip to New Orleans with her girlfriends to be present at the music festival being conducted there, where Ryan is going to be the keynote speaker. The group of four friends is named “Flossy Posse” composed of Ryan, Lisa, a single mother, and a nurse by profession. Dina is a careless party freak who was recently fired due to a fight with a co-worker. And Sasha, a career-oriented journalist associated with a gossip magazine who, is currently going through financial difficulty. While the group was reconnecting on the trip, Sasha gets a picture of Ryan’s husband, Stewart kissing another woman. At first, Ryan’s friends were apprehensive to tell her, but they eventually confessed and were very surprised by Ryan’s reaction. She says that she is aware of it and because of that they are currently going through couple’s therapy to deal with Stewart’s adultery. The rest of the story continues with a lot of couple drama, music, and parties.

Star Performance

The chemistry the lead characters Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith shared is stunning, each of these characters carried their charisma along with their performance. Overall, the characters are well written, but the direction, music, and plot are all average.

Analysis

The comedic aspect of the movie is typically hilarious, plus the leading actresses possess excellent rapport with one another. It is a movie for mature viewers that contains crude language that people below the legal age should not watch. You may find some of the jokes slightly over-the-top and pretty conventional. Despite having unique personalities, they continue to find time for each other. You will be cheered to watch the lead quartet throughout the running time with delightful and entertaining comics. Overall, the characters have fantastic chemistry together, and it plays wonderfully towards the end, where they all come together for Ryan. Its not entirely random, yet there is a sense of satisfaction.

What’s There?

  • Funny, light hearted and engaging movie.

What’s Not There?

  • Some viewers may feel that the characters are based on stereotypes and that the punchlines are outlandish and silly.

Verdict

Overall, the dynamics between the four friends are sweet and fun. The movie is a good source of laughter and entertainment with an engaging and light-hearted plot.
