Plot
Nicky (Will Smith), a con artist, takes an acquaintance named Jess (Margot Robbie) under his wing. While he taught her the tricks, both get romantically involved with each other but when Jess gets uncomfortably close, Nicky ends their relationship. Time passes by, and then three years later, when Nicky was residing in Buenos Aires and was working out a very perilous scheme, Jess shows up unexpectedly as an accomplished femme fatale. Her appearance throws Nicky for a loop at a time when he cannot afford to be off his game and lose his focus.
Star Performance
Will Smith, as a con artist, gives an amazing performance. Moreover, Margot Robbie, as a femme fatale, gives an exuberant performance. This duo made the movie more interesting than ever. Having two amazing stars together is itself a very attractive idea. Loved both of their performances. Both were ideal for the role they played.
Analysis
Focus delivers plenty of shocking twists, solid humour and imposing production values from the beginning to the end. This makes it an excellent thriller, even if the romance part of the film feels a little underutilized and quite a bit safe.
Will Smith plays squarely to his strengths, resulting in a performance and character that's naturally funny and charming. Margot Robbie has great chemistry with Smith and can be equally amusing and charismatic.
The direction given by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa is fantastic, the film is one of the cleanest and slickest works done in recent memory with methodical camera work. The soundtrack is perfect; mainly, some of the songs chosen serve a clever narrative purpose.
The focus could use a bit more attention in the storytelling, and the late movie plot twist doesn’t ring true when the lead-up to the big reveal, but it covers up at such a pace and is filled with enough fun that you may overlook it.

Verdict
It is an amazing movie starring two fantastic stars performing together along with the fun and crime or more like fun in the crime. The movie could be more crime oriented and less romantic if Nicky and Jess were not given the intimacy. This movie will prompt you to think about people who manipulate others and
act the victim most of the time even when it's them who were wrong.
