ANALYSIS: This film head towards the downhill as the director of the movie, Fredrick Bond, drives the story away from the reality. All the characters are distinct, but in an exaggerated way. Many big personalities in the movie were not utilized properly. The screenplay is filled with so many one-liners, that are expressed by the antagonist of the movie, Mikkelsen, with a straight face. It is hard to say, whether the film was intentionally made to look funny or not. The movie starts quickly, without any backstory. We are introduced to the plot only after the first seventy minutes of the movie. Director's attempt in giving us an amalgamation of romance, grief, crime, ended up in a mess.
STAR PERFORMANCES: In spite of the worth of the characters played by him, LaBeouf wholeheartedly works with his characters. A fascinating actor, whose performance is one of the major reasons for the movie to run.
WHAT'S THERE? Glossy HD cinematography and the colorful locations are a visual treat to us.
WHAT'S NOT THERE? The logic is not present at certain scenes. We never know why the protagonist's mother's spirit wants him to travel to Bucharest. Just as the script demands, the protagonist runs for a girl whom he barely knows.
VERDICT: A movie with color and noise, sans feelings.
