Cars was released in 2006 and now is the time of its sequel, Cars2, presented by the Pixar Animation Studios. We can clearly see the Lasseter’s love for automobiles in the movie and he considers them as his family, so he never fails to put smiles on our faces. This movie is a fun, friendly, action-thriller and especially for kids, a great entertainment package by Pixar.
Plot: Italian Formula race car, Francesco Bernoulli, challenges Lightning McQueen, who returns home to Radiator Springs, after being 4-time Piston Cup champion, for the World Grand Prix, organized by its creator, Sir Miles Axlerod, he and his best friend, Mater. They all depart for Tokyo, along with Luigi, Guido, Fillmore, and Sarge for the Grand Prix’s first race. In the meantime, weapon designer Professor Zundapp and an unknown mastermind (the lemons) plans secretly to keep safe their oil products by using an Electromagnetic pulse emitter disguised as a camera (discovered by Finn on the oil platform) to activate and minimize the usage of a fuel, created by Axlerod and required for racers to use in Grand Prix, called Allinol. In the first race, out of three cars, McQueen comes second after Bernoulli, just because Mater unintentionally gives him bad racing advice after confusing Zundapp’s henchmen. Finn kidnaps Mater and boards his plane.
First, they travel to Paris, where they get more information about Finn’s old friend, then to Italy where the next race was going to be held. Mater access the criminal’s strategy and therefore, somehow he wanted McQueen to finish first. Sir Miles Axlerod removes Allinol from the cars and saves for the next race. But the criminals plan to kill McQueen in the next race, which was to be held in London because McQueen decides to use the fuel continuously. In the final race held in London, Mater finds that the criminals are planning for a bomb blast, as the camera did not function properly on McQueen.
Soon the other residents arrived, and Mater and McQueen were saved from the bomb. Mater then forces Axlerod to deactivate the bomb and reveals all his plannings. At the end, Sarge reveals that he changed the fuel from Allinol to gasoline, so the camera did not work on McQueens. Also, Mater receives an honorary knighthood from the queen.
Analysis: Cars 2 is the weakest movie from Pixar Animation Studios till date, having worst animation scenes. Otherwise, Pixar was well known for its animated movies after it became famous from Toy Story. However, 2006’s Cars was not such a bad movie, but it did not succeed as other films by Pixar. While, Cars 2 is completely without any story so it will surely annoy adults and can be enjoyed by children. But the only problem is that despite having so much quantity of action and violence, it is still called children’s movie. There are many visual complexities that it will be hard for children to enjoy it much.
Star Performances: Lightning McQueen and Mater (

and Larry The Cable Guy) are the main leads and the best friends in the movie. On the whole, Mater was found to be the star cast. He came out to be a selfless friend and of loving nature who was ready to put his life in danger because of his best friend. Lightning and Mater proved the best example of friendship and loved each other as they were. They did not have much in common but were always at each other’s back.
What’s there?Â
1. A bond of friendship is beautifully symbolized in the movie.Â
2. If we talk about the story, many people find it as a brand new experience and a different improvement.
3. Kids will definitely learn new information about fuels and different cultures of different landmarks. The animation is beautiful, action- thrilling sequences are superb with the funny jokes and remarkable acting.
4.The film is visualized in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D, as well as, traditional two-dimensional and IMAX formats. It is the 12th animated movie from the studio, and it grossed $560 million worldwide.
What’s not there?Â
1.The first and the foremost thing to get noticed is, the 3D effects could have been more better. It did nothing but just darkened the bright colors. So it is better to go and watch in 2D. Also, if it is made for kids, then there should be lesser violence and gun usage which was very intense. Due to excessive action sequences, the movie is deprived of the story.
2. There should be more story, more drama, more jokes if we see from the kid’s point of view, but however, made it more complex. So it came out to be the first Pixar film not to be nominated for Oscar.
Verdict:Â Despite having many problems and also much improvement, people who watched Cars should go and watch Cars 2, with lots of animation techniques and great visualization, especially the World Grand Prix and the International Car Race with all the mystery and plannings. Parents should take their kids and make them watch the movie to learn new information about fuels and cultures.
