Based on the famous book by Jack London, the film relates the tale of Buck the dog and his experiences from a cozy city dog to a working dog in The Yukon. It is mainly intended for families, downplaying the difficult existence and severe treatment of sled dogs.
Plot:
During the late 1890s Klondike Gold Rush, when powerful sled dogs were in high demand, Buck, a big and loving dog who was a crossbreed between a St. Bernard and a Scotch shepherd, was stolen from his home in Santa Clara County, California, and transported up north to be sold in Skagway, Alaska, and then taken even further north, to Dawson City, Yukon. Buck, a dog unlike any other who had been spoiled and had suffered but could not be broken, is enjoying his life as a rookie in the dog team delivery business and not long after becoming their front-runner. He was eventually carried by his last owner, John Thornton, to the vicinity of the Arctic Circle, somewhere between Yukon and Alaska, where he was forced to battle for his life. There, he learned to rely on his instincts as a master of the wild, letting go of civilization's luxuries.

Verdict:
The movie demonstrates that Buck was following his impulses and that realizing these feelings led him to noble behavior and accepting responsibility. This narrative has persisted for over a century because of its underlying premise. Maybe the sequel will tell it better. Great for children aged seven and older and parents who enjoy classic films or Harrison Ford enthusiasts!
