Plot
In Los Angeles Police Department, an aggressive detective called in Vic's Manning. He was finding a wanted drug lord Oka Tedjo. Oka has killed his partner, Sara Morris. This results Vic’s superior, Captain McHenry making him take leave from his duties. During the fight with Oka, his glasses be knocked off his face. This causes him undergo laser eye surgery. This makes him to take additional two days' leave from his work. But, suddenly, he was informed about Tedjo’s current whereabouts. He takes a Uber to solve his mission. The Uber driver was Stu Prasad. Stu is a guy who takes his work seriously, like caring about reviews he receives on the Uber app. Vic's investigation to solve the case will cause a lot of turns in Stu's life. What will happen to Vic and Stu? Will Vic be able to capture drug lord Oka Tedjo? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Kumail Nanjiani, as Stu Prasad, did an incredible performance in the film. His journey to help Vic Manning in his case and also going through his crisis was brilliant. His detailing of the character was outstanding. Everything about him was entertaining in the film. He amuses the audience with his comic timing. Dave Bautista, as Victor “Vic” Manning, did a fantastic performance in the movie. He shows the nature of an aggressive cop who wants to capture drug lord Oka Tedjo. His care for his daughter was also seen. His acting was brilliantly performed. One would love his character after watching this movie. That much impact he made in he whole film. Iko Uwais's appearance as the drug lord Oka Tedjo was scary, horrifying, and, at the same time, creepy. He did a remarkable performance in the film. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The storyline of the film was great, funny, and entertaining. The film focus on the central theme of buddy cop film. The film is about how two different strangers get into each other lives due to uncertain circumstances. The comic nature of the movie is maintained from the start till the end. The action in the film was not impressive. The storyline was okay, but nothing good. The scripting in the movie was not well structured. The dialogues can be improved in the movie. The cinematography was good but lacks in direction. The film has freshness and uniqueness in its concept. As a light-hearted comedy, it did an okay job in the film. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were okay.
