It was inspired by the book ‘13 Hours’ which was written by Mitchell Zuckoff and published in 2014. Plot

This is about a terrorist attack which took place on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the US. Libya in 2012 was pronounced as the most dangerous country in the world for attacks by the militants because of which many of the countries have removed their embassies from there. However, the United States run a special office which is located in the city which is called ‘The Annex.’ There are many US military officer to guard the place. Jack Da Silva played by Krasinski has joined up the team in Benghazi. Da Silva is introduced to rest of the team by his friend Rone Woods played by James Dale. The officers are at a task when the U.S Ambassador Christopher Stevens arrives in Benghazi for political connections. Even after being warned, he plans to stay at the Special Mission office. That night, he is attacked by militants.  Wickland, security in charge there locks himself and Stevens in a safe room but the room is set on fire by the militants. On the other hand at the Annex, officers are desperate for help. They go against all the order to save Stevens and others. Wickland is found alive while Stevens is declared dead. The officers return to their office to call in help. Just when they are told that help is en route, the militants attack their office with bombs. In the mishap, Woods and Doherty both fall victim to the bombs. The Global Response Staff of Libya has come to escort the officers out. All the officers are at the airport, looking to fly back home to meet their families, but they are saddened by the loss of Woods, Doherty, and Stevens. In the end, it is shown that all the officers have retired from the Annex.

Star Performances

James Badge Dale and John Krasinski John Burke Krasinski is a man of multiple talents. >> Read More... both were exceptional. Dominic Fumusa who is also the part of the security team performed well. Overall, the film is good in all terms as everyone chipped in well.

Analysis

Michael Bay has put very necessary element that was required for a film of this level. Sources claimed that the story is based on a real-life event while some claim it to be exaggerated. Paramount Pictures took the responsibility of distributing the movie because of which 13 Hours broke the expectations. It was screened to many political figures for endorsements.

What’s there?

1.    The cinematography by Dion Beebe was exceptional.

2.    During 144 minutes there is not a moment you will bored. So, there is no bore factor in.

3.    Personally, John Krasinski was very good at playing his role.

What’s not there?

The end could have been a little more spiced up.

Verdict

Everyone should watch this movie as there are glimpses of what life in Libya is like. It is advised to watch this is in a theatre to enjoy it to the fullest.
