Plot
There was an ex-marine officer called Jarhead Earl. He was now living with his family in a park after retirement. To make a living, he decided to go outside. For a better life, he had to win Donnybrook. Donnybrook is a popular fighting show. To participate in it, he had to have a vast amount of money for registration. For this, he decided to rob the nearby shop. After stealing, he goes to his home, where he mutts Angus. Angus is a drug dealer. He has given money to his family. Somehow he was able to escape his family and went for Donnybrook. What will happen to Earl? What will Angus do to him? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Jamie Bell, as Jarhead Earl, did an incredible performance in the film. His determination to save his family was perfect. He was perfect for his role. He does look like a marine office too. James Badge Dale, as Whalen, was excellent in his acting. He did a fantastic performance in the movie. He was a confident cop who thought he could easily capture a dangerous drug dealer. His drinking problem was well portrayed by James Badge. One would hate Frank Grillo as Chainsaw Angus after watching this movie. That much impact he made in the whole film. His appearance as the drug dealer was scary, horrifying, and, at the same time, creepy. He was a perfect antagonist in his movie. His acting was terrific, like his character. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The film’s storyline was great, creepy, horrifying, and scary —the film focus on how money wants to earn money fast. The film is based on the novel with the same title, written by Frank Bill. The dramatic nature of the film is maintained from the start till the end. The movie showcases how a horrifying but seems to be an actual image of a drug dealer. As a book adaptation, the script was not perfect. The book fans will be disappointed in the film. The intention of making a film from a book was a great idea, but not well structured and framed. The direction in the movie is fine. The action scenes were well choreographed. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were excellent. The violence portrayed in the film seems natural, which can be nightmare for some people in the audience. The style of presentation is good. The film is dark with horrifying graphics.
