Harvard University is a popular university that has been operating for the past 380 years. There is a chair for Ukraine and Celtic languages, even though those languages have lesser number of speakers. Even Sanskrit and Hebrew have a chair there. Being a highly spoken language with 70 million people all over the world, Tamil, the longest surviving classical language in the world doesn’t have a Tamil chair. The American Tamils Sambandham and Janakiraman are taking serious initiative to set up a Tamil Chair in Harvard.

, the President of Tamil Film Producers’ Association appreciates the efforts of the medical practitioners Sambandham and Janakiraman and also requests people to fund for the Tamil Chair. Vishal thanks the Tamilnadu government for spending Rs. 10 crores to set up a Tamil chair. Vishal states that to set up a chair, it needs Rs. 40 crores and the amount collected is Rs. 17 crore. Vishal donates Rs. 10 Lakh and requests the Tamils to donate and help the University to set up a Tamil Chair. He also requests the central government to help in this regard.
