Re-release of a film is now more of a promotional strategy, and almost every film industry is milking this opportunity. As such, Thalapathy Vijay is set to entertain the Tamilian audiences with his iconic ‘Ghilli’ re-releasing in April.

, is set for a re-release in April. Some posters are circulating on social media as well. Should everything go right, the film will release on the same date as the original, i.e. 16 April.

’ [which was released in 2002]. The film revolves around a Kabaddi player Velu, who invokes the ire of a gangster for rescuing a girl he lusts for. The film was a runaway success, and its soundtrack, composed by Vidyasagar, breached every parameter of popularity, becoming famous throughout India.
The re-release of Vijay comes almost a month after the actor’s announcement to retire from films after his 69th project. This film will be Vijay's final on screen appearance. Following that, he will focus on his political ambitions. He has even launched a political outfit in this direction.
