Star India Wins The Auction And Bags BCCI Media Rights!

In the auction held today for the media rights of the Cricket matches that will be held in India for the next five years, Star India bagged the rights at a whopping price of Rs. 6138.1 crore. This is the highest price in the history. Sony and Reliance lost the auction to Star India. Star had already paid Rs 3851 crore to telecast the India matches from 2012 to 2018. The bidding had been going on for the past three days and finally, it completed today in favor of Star Sports. On day 1, the amount ended with Rs 4442 crores and on Day 2 it ended with Rs. 6000 crores and finally settled with Rs. 6138.1 crore. Anirudh Choudhry, the Treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed it with his tweet, “Congratulations @StarSportsIndia on bagging the BCCI Media Rights @ 6138.1 crores at an average of 60.1 crore per game.”
