Melmaruvathur is popular for the Adiparasakthi temple. The founder of the temple Bangaru Adigal is fondly called as Amma by his disciples. His birthday is being celebrated on 3rd March, every year. A banner of Bangaru Adigal, which is more than 100 ft has been kept in the National highways and has been disturbing the traffic.

, the social activist, who had been on his way to Neduvasal, to join the protest, saw these banners that create hurdles to the public. At once, he got down from his car and tried to remove those banners. But, he was attacked by a crew of people. Along with him, his security guards were also attacked. As there was a police inspector in the place, he cleared the crowd. Later Ramaswamy got first aid and started to Neduvasal.
