Single screen cinema halls are losing their importance day by day. After the arrival of the multiplexes, many single screen cinema halls are demolished and converted to shopping malls. A couple of years back, Asia’s biggest theater Thangam in Madurai had been demolished and a popular jewelry and textile showroom had been erected. Now, the popular Pilot Theater in Chennai Royapettah has been demolished. The Pilot theater is specialized in screening 70mm films. If the theaters are being demolished, then what will be the future of cinema? We guess watching cinemas would be combined with shopping.
