Recently, the government cut the excise duty on petrol, which resulted in the reduction of the petrol price by Rs. 2.5 to 2. 63. Earlier, the price of petrol and diesel were changed every fortnight. From 16th June 2017, the rates of the petrol and diesel are revised daily. Petrol and diesel are not under the GST. The price of the fuel is decided by the excise duty, global prices and VAT. Nearly 80% of India’s fuel needs rely on the imports. The government announced that the petrol would be delivered at home for online orders. Petrol Pump owners association announced a strike on 13th October, nationwide. Now the petrol pump strike would definitely create a great impact. If the fuel pumps involve in a shutdown, the entire transport system will be collapsed. What will be the next step by the central government? Will it hear the demands of the petrol pump owners?
