Tasted the success of two matches in the World Cup 2019, India had been highly expecting its third match with New Zealand, who won them in the warm-up game. When the Indian and New Zealand Cricket fans had been sitting in front of the TV to watch an interesting match, rain delayed the play. The fans prayed for the rain to stop, but the weather disappointed them. Without even bowling a ball, the match was announced abandoned due to rain.
The discussions about the replacement player were going on, as Shikar Dhawan got his thumb hurt during the previous match with Australia. However, the BCCI announced that no replacement player would be sent to England; instead they play with the players in the squad. Shikar will miss a few matches until his injury gets cured. As the match had been called off, both the teams share a point each.
