‘GOAT’ Is Anything But A Success!

Kollywood will have to wait longer for a wholesome blockbuster!

As per the figures shared by the producers, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s recent release ‘GOAT : The Greatest of All Time’ has done an ‘impressive’ job, earning more than 300 crores worldwide. However, the domestic figures reveal something else, and it looks like ‘Thalapathy’ is now competing with ‘Ulaganayagan’ in terms of a bigger commercial failure.

How? Kamal Haasan’s last release was the S Shankar directed ‘Indian 2’. The movie is the official sequel to the 1996 classic ‘Indian’, also released in Hindi as ‘Hindustani’. Made on a budget of at least 300 crores, the overall collections of the film were nowhere near the original budget, let alone make the film a commercial hit. The movie collected merely 150 crores worldwide.

On the other hand, the budget of ‘GOAT’ is more than 400 crores, which makes it one of the costliest Tamil movies in recent times. However, the domestic collections have not even crossed 200 crores in the Indian market. The collections from the Hindi and the Telugu belt have been anything but impressive. However, according to Venkat Prabhu, the reason for ‘GOAT’s’ underwhelming performances in these regions is the reference to CSK. Yes, let that sink in!
