Chennai is profoundly affected by the drinking water scarcity and we could spot people roaming for water under the scorching sun and the IT Companies offered Work From Home scheme to its employees. The Tamilnadu government announced that they would get water for Chennai from Jolarpettai through the rail transport. Today, the first attempt had been successful. 50 tank wagons with 50, 000 liters of water is said to have brought to Chennai from Vellore district’s Jolarpettai, which is 217 km from Chennai.
It was planned to bring the water on Thursday, but due to some leakage in the valves, it reached a day late. It is sad to hear that four reservoirs that supply water to Chennai went dry and the city has been facing 200 million liters of water deficit. Let’s plant the tress and make the environment cool and welcome rain to quench the thirst!
