Abirami Ramanathan
, the President of the Film Chamber of Commerce, said that something good would happen tomorrow or Friday. Abirami Ramanathan, the leader of the Theater Owners’ Association has strong hopes that the TN Government would lend their ears to the request by the film industry to exempt the cinema industry from entertainment tax. Already the ticket prices have increased by 28% due to GST. If the entertainment tax is levied, then the ticket rates will increase by 58%. So, the Tamil Film Producers’ Council is also protesting against this taxation.
Vishal Reddy
had already met the CM and had been speaking about this. The theaters are shut indefinitely due to the double taxation. It has created a loss of Rs. 20 crore/ day. If the talks between the government ends on a positive note, then the theaters will open tomorrow, said Abirami Ramanathan.
