Tamil Films Banned In Karnataka!
Due to the Cauvery water dispute, the Karnataka theatres stopped screening the Tamil films, all over the state. To avoid the losses, those Tamil film theatres have screened Kannada and other language films. Thomas Dsouza, a theatre owner and the former president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce said "It is a sensitive issue. No one is happy to release Cauvery water to Tamilnadu. So we have decided not to screen Tamil films. No one forced us not to screen Tamil films. Besides films, people are also cautious in travelling to TN in vehicles with Karnataka registration and vice-versa. The exhibitors who screened only Tamil films are facing a crisis now." Nearly ten theatres in Bangalore have stopped screening Tamil films. Nataraja and Vijay are the theatres that screened only Tamil films. Now, those theatres are screening Kannada and English films.
