were in Chennai yesterday. They both went there to attend a function. Chennai had been severely hit due to Cyclone Vardah. From the morning, the rain showered and the normal life had been affected. Amidst the heavy rain and huge winds, Bharathi and Hema started from Chennai to Bangalore. Both of them were traveling in a car, where the driver is a bit afraid of water. While traveling, the actresses witnessed the trees falling due to the strong winds. Hema says that they couldn’t see the road when it was 7 PM. They saw some cars floating and thought that some reservoirs had broken out. However, they didn’t stop the car and managed to reach Vellore. They stayed in a hotel and started their journey towards Bangalore, now. Chennai suffered a lot in the rains, last year. This year, it is hit badly with Vardah. Nearly 2500 trees were rooted out. It will take a week time to bring the city to normal condition.
