Mohammad Azharuddin
, ahead of the release of Azhar, speaks about the film and his life. He says that Azhar can’t be called a biopic- the film is precisely the views of the former Indian Captain on his life. The film has some real events that took place in his life till 2000 after which the Mohammad Azharuddin was not allowed to play the sport on charges of match-fixing. The film has portrayed the events very well and he is satisfied with the way the film has been designed, in fact he has loved it and he is hoping that the audience will love it too.
As far as his life goes, he says that nobody can be blamed for the series of unfortunate things that kept happening in his life. The cricketer believes in Destiny and says that nobody can win against it. Although he can’t recover from the disastrous twelve years, he has come out of it and has tackled it all by himself in his own way. About the movie he says that there is decent amount of cricketing action and he has coached
Emraan Hashmi
, who will be playing his character, personally to make the cricket shots look closer to Mohammad Azharuddin. He says that people need to understand and respect the cinematic liberty- he mentions about the songs in the film although he has never sung in his real life. But these things are acceptable since the film needs to reach out to the audience with an entertainment element.
Azharuddin says that the details of his professional and personal life were showcased with utmost care. He is in awe of Emraan Hashmi, and feels that the amount of hardwork and dedication the actor has displayed is evident in the film. An added advantage of similar looks will make the audience connect better. There could not have been a better choice for the role, the cricketer says.
