The second day of this year’s IFFM or Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) was concluded last night as they honor the best of the Indian cinema. This big event happened at the National Gallery of Victoria, which was attended by various celebrities and personalities including the Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt, Indian High Commissioner Navdeep Suri, Australian High Commissioner to India Patrick Suckling, Anil Kapoor, Consul General Manika Jain, and a lot more.
The awarding ceremony was coincided with the celebration of the 69th Indian Independence Day, which happened at the Federation Square in Melbourne. The Indian flag was hoisted by Anil Kapoor and Suri along with the huge crowd of the Indian community. This year’s Best Film at the IFFM was presented to the dramatic comedy film, Piku, which stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role. The Best Director award was given to Shoojit Sircar of Dum Laga Ke Haisha, while the film’s female lead Bhumi Pednekar won the Best Actress award. Irrfan Khan received the Best Actor award for his brilliant performance in Piku. The Best Indie Film award was presented to Kaaka Muttai and Rajkumar Hirani won the Best Telstra People’s Choice Award for his film PK.
