Plot
Manzoor Ali Khan Sanjari, aka Khan Sahab, a qawwali singer, has been married many times. He already has eleven children and insists his youngest wife, Rukshar, deliver his twelfth child despite complications in her pregnancy. Khan Sahab doesn’t care for his wife’s life, as he thinks children are god’s gift and they should be allowed to be born and not aborted. Except for his elder son, Shahnawaz, the rest of the family are against his idea. Alfiya, one of his daughters, has the courage to approach the court with the help of Afreen, a woman lawyer, and files a case against her father for forcing her stepmother to risk her life and allow Ruksar to abort the child. Will she get justice? The rest of the film speaks about this.
 Star Performance
Annu’s Urdu dialect is perfect. However, it is irritating to hear him raise his voice too much, and he should have minimized his sound in some scenes. Aditi played her part really well as Alfiya. Ashwini’s role is good and she excels in the given screen time. Manoj Joshi is good too.
Analysis
The film deals with various societal issues that are thought-provoking. The director deals with women’s empowerment. But, at times, it feels preachier than delivering the right message. The courtroom scenes should have come out well. But, certain scenes appear repetitive and make us lack interest. However, a few scenes in the courtroom bring high tension. The visuals and editing are quite decent. The music should have been better.

The film has its pluses and negatives. Though it has some advocacy kind of projection, it provides a social message. Hamare Baarah – watchable once!
