FWICE Calls Out The Shadow Ban On The Bengal Files

FWICE is not impressed with the Bengal government.

According to the recent reports, the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees has issued a statement against the shadow ban imposed by the Bengali administration on Vivek Agnihotri’s movie The Bengal Files. The movie is based on the turbulent politics of Bengal, including the unfortunate tragedy of Direct Action Day.

While the government has officially not issued a statement, the distributors in Bengal refused to screen the movie following the heckling of the movie crew by the local police, despite having received the requisite permissions for the trailer launch. Mamata Banerjee’s administration had previously attempted to ban The Kerala Story, though it was ultimately struck down by the Supreme Court.

The Bengal Files is the final instalment in the Files trilogy backed by producer Abhishek Agarwal and director Vivek Agnihotri. The movie stars an ensemble cast of Mithun Chakraborty, Namashi Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Saswata Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi, Anubha Arora, Simratt Kaur Randhawa, Eklavya Sood, Sourav Das, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Anupam Kher, Rajesh Khera etc.
