Even before the release of Azhar, the film has some controversies around it. With Sangeeta Bijlani complaining that the film does not portray her character well, and Manoj Prabhakar getting offended with the way he has been played, the atmosphere around the film is getting heated up.
Emraan Hashmi
, who is playing the protagonist says, that to do a film of a controversial cricketer this is something that is obvious and bound to happen. He said that the cricketer is a great mentor and the on-screen and off-screen Azharuddins had bonded well. They even visited to the Nizamuddin Dargah to pray for the success of the movie. He says that the man’s life was interesting and was full of highs and lows. He says that he wished to play a role and he knew it very well that people will start giving their views immediately after the promos release. That is exactly what has happened and he is not surprised; he feels that when you are delivering a movie from a particular person’s point of view it is obvious that the other people who are involved in the story will have varied opinions. Perceptions vary from person to person and the film that is based on such a controversial sportsman, will have to bear all of this.
