Train journeys form an integral part of the romantic scenes in Bollywood from DDLJ to ‘Dilwale’. Let’s travel back in time and have a glance at these movies and their romantic journey with trains.

1. Jab We Met

The movie was released in 2007 where two complete strangers fall in love with each other in their crazy and chaotic train journey which they realize at the end. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor the movie is definitely a memorable movie in their whole career.

2. Parineeta

The whistling steam engine will definitely transport you to the 90s and to the toy train of Darjeeling. The movie is an adaptation of a 1914 Bengali novel. The song Kasto Mazza is without any doubt a soulful song which was shot in the toy train.

3. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)

If you are a 90s kid and SRKs fan then this movie will definitely give you thrills no matter what your age is. The phrase “JA SIMRAN JA” has managed to stay with us till date. Most of the shots were shot in Switzerland and has captured the beauty of the country in its every nerve.

4. Chennai Express

Yet again SRK spelt his charm on the 20s kid when this movie was released in 2013. A striking similarity of SRK helping out a girl to catch a running train could be seen. This scene had no doubt reminded us of DDLJ. The two strangers meeting up in train and their journey to Kanyakumari, how exciting it could be!

5. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

The train shot was dramatic yet an important one for the plot of the whole movie where Varun Dhawan urges his lady love not to escape. This particular scene can be rather termed as a “CUTE COUPLE MOMENT.”

6. Dil Se

Malaika Arora Khan and Shah Rukh Khan dancing on top of the train in a peppy song was difficult to imagine before the song Chaiyya Chaiyya came out. Well the song Chaiyya Chaiyya composed by AR Rahman was shot in an open railway carriage and has shown us some of the beautiful scenes of our INCREDIBLE INDIA!

7. Bunty Aur Babli

The movie showcased Rani Mukerie and Abhishek Bachchan as the “CON COUPLE.” The movie has not tried to beautify any of the train scenes and has tried to keep it simple as every common man who has an experience with a con man during his journey in the train. Realistic yet dramatic a perfect combination!

8. Barfi!

The movie starred Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz and is one of the finest movies of their respective career. A playful song was shot in the toy train of Darjeeling between Ileana and Ranbir. The song will definitely transport you to the hills of Darjeeling.

9. Aashirwad

Rail Gaadi rail gaadi song is one those songs which has captured our childhood days. It is probably one of the 1st rap songs in India by Ashok Kumar. The words “Chook chook” any time brings back our childhood.

10. Aradhana

Mere sapnoki rani is one those evergreen songs which every generation likes to sing. The song is from the movie Aradhana where Sharmila Tagore is in the train and Rajesh Khanna is in a jeep. Thus trains have played an integral part in the plot of the movies from time immemorial and will probably continue so for many more years to come.
