1. Kama Sutra: A Tale Of Love

We are definitely not surprised as to why this movie was banned, the name says it all. It was termed as unethical, immoral and explicit by the censor board. In this film, there are erotic scenes, also with a lot of homosexuality.

2. Fire

The two protagonists in the film are named as Radha and Sita. There was a twist in the relation that the two women shared. In the movie, the sister-in-laws falls in love in the end. This movie shows a relationship of lesbians. This movie was banned due to the portrayal of lesbianism and also because of the names of the characters which by Hindu mythology belongs to Deities.

This film was based during the assassination of Indira Gandhi where thousands of Sikhs died. The film was banned because they saw it as an element disturbing the harmony of the country.

5. Water

While the film was being shot, there were many protests against it in Varanasi. The protest created a big scene by burning down the equipment in the set. It was about how the widows were portrayed in the rural areas.
