An iconic film that was all about family ties, bonds and relationships paved the way for the emergence of a popular character Poo, aka Pooja, played brilliantly by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Although, she acted like a spoiled brat in some instances, yet, she was more than just her pretty face and fashionable looks. She was an epitome of self-love, confidence, and the right attitude that was a perfect treat for an entire generation of girls. Also, not to forget her iconic dialogues that are still everyone's favorite.
We all could relate to the chirpy, fun-loving, tomboy Anjali, who was in love with her best friend in so many ways. The portrayal of Rizwan Khan by Shah Rukh Khan was so endearing and beautiful that it makes us fall in love with his character even more. After being accused of being a terrorist since he was a Muslim, Rizwan started his journey of personally informing the President that even though his name was Khan, he was not a terrorist. This determination and willpower is undoubtedly a lesson that people of any age can learn from him.
The film would be incomplete without mentioning Amitabh Bachchan's character, Yash Raichand, the dominating, orthodox business tycoon, who puts principles and family values over anything else. He perfectly embodies the typical Indian dad, whom no one would ever want to argue or have a disagreement.
Although her character can be said to be inspired by that of Poo in K3G, it still stands out from its counterpart in so many ways. She is not the one who would lose hope over things quickly, yet, she won't let her self-respect down for someone. Apart from being a fashionista, she has a soft side, too, wherein, she only wants to be loved and find happiness in life.
The film was way ahead of its time, trying to deal with the concept of extra-marital affairs and finding love. Maya was a complicated character who was confused about her feelings, and even though she married her childhood friend, she was not happy and eventually, she had the guts towards the end to break from the societal norms and live the life which gave her the happiness she desires.
Kiara Advani's portrayal of Megha, a newly married woman who is not happy with her sex life, deserves applause for bringing forth something new and unconventional in Hindi cinema. Her character was iconic in the way she decided to take things into her hand, ultimately landing her in some hilarious consequences.
In Karan Johar's segment of Bombay Talkies, Rani Mukerji played Gayatri, a strong, independent woman who leaves her husband the moment she realizes that he had been lying to her about his sexual orientation, of him being gay. Her character graph was something remarkable, and it was presented very clearly in her actions, too, like how she accepted the fact of her colleague being gay in a very usual manner, which was modern and progressive to the core.
