1. Anushka Sharma

Poor soul, Anushka Sharma has been on the receiving end of cyber bullies more than once. She was bullied on multiple occasions starting with her presence making beau Virat Kohli perform badly on the field. She never commented on it but was told to toe the line by BCCI in their new formed rules that barred cricketers travelling abroad to have their girlfriends accompanying them. Once trying to pay her condolences to former president APJ Abdul Kalam, she got the spelling wrong (she wrote ABJ) and the Indian Twitterati blasted her with insults. When she got her lip job done and appeared on a chat show, Twitter went crazy with trolls that made fun of her face, this time, however, she decided not to take it lying down and shunned everyone with saying that what to do with her body was her decision.

2. Deepika Padukone

The actress was bullied by none other than a national newspaper! The Twitter handle of the newspaper caught hold of one of her pictures where she was wearing a low-neck kameez. They released the photo with a circle around her cleavage claiming her to be showing skin. Deepika however, did not take too kindly to all this and replied with a tongue-in-cheek “Yes I am a woman, and I have breast. Do you have a problem with that? Her response had all the industry pouring in support.

3. Rishi Kapoor

As the Maharashtra government banned beef in the state, a lot of popular voice came out against the government’s action of curbing choices. One of these voices was that of veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor. He not only tweeted that he was against the ban but also explained that though he eats beef, he does not consider himself to be any less of a Hindu. Twitter went mad post this and the actor was insulted for propagating falsehood in the name of liberalism.

4. Aishwarya Rai

The actress has been gracing Cannes for more than 15 years now. While the fashion community is not always in consonance about her appearances, she has never had a backlash as intense as this year. This year she decided to pair her ensemble with a purple lipstick. Little did she know that the lipstick would be the only thing talked about months after her return from the event. The online community went after her with trolls and memes making fun of her choice of lip colour.

5. Sonakshi Sinha

The actress who has never been the kind to mince words was taken aback by Kamal R Khan’s blatant misogyny. KRK apparently appointed himself the “butt surveyor” of Bollywood and started a weird survey to check who has the sexiest butt in Bollywood. As soon as he mentioned Sonakshi Sinha’s name in his tweet, she lashed out at him.

6. Priyanka Chopra

The international star was ridiculed for her picture that appeared on Maxim India’s cover. The photo had Priyanka’s armpits looking a tad bit too photo shopped. It was reason enough for Twitter to troll her with insults ranging from being too plastic to the more serious complaints of giving false body image to people. Priyanka got back at her bullies by posting another picture of her revealing her armpits with a caption “another pit stopping photo”

7. Sona Mohapatra

The singer got involved in a controversy and her cyber bullying was stretched a little too far. She commented on Salman Khan’s rape comment during the promotion of his film Sultan, condemning his comparison of a gruesome workout with the condition of a battered rape woman. Little did she know that Salman loyalists took it too close to their hearts and she was bullied mercilessly online. She received vulgar threats and had to launch a formal complaint for it to stop.

8. Mawra Hocane

The actress who recently made her Bollywood debut decided to host a #askMawra campaign. She didn’t know, however, that the publicity stunt for her new movie would backfire. People started asking her questions that were demeaning and insulting with most being targeted at the spelling of her name.

9. Smriti Irani

The actress has been on both the sides of the Twitter debate. She was recently made fun of on the internet due to her change of Ministry portfolio. With jokes ranging from funny to mean and insulting, she received the brunt of the twitter community quite badly.

10. Barkha Dutt

The news reporter has been trolled more than her fair share of times. Recently she was in the news due to not her statements, but a terrorist’s support of her and validating that she is one of the good ones among Indian Journalists. The reporter hit back at him saying she won’t be a part of his propaganda, but the clean up came a little too late as Twitter had already made up its mind about the issue.
