Akshay Kumar is one of the greatest contemporary actors of Bollywood. He began his career in Bollywood humbly after learning martial arts and modeling for some time. His hard work is exemplary for the younger actors. Akshay Kumar has starred in over a hundred films, belonging to the genres of action, romance, comedy, tragedy, etc. His versatility has been widely appreciated. He was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 2009. He is now happily married to former actress Twinkle Khanna, and has two children. 1. Baby

Baby is a thriller and action film released in 2015. It starred Rana Daggubati, Kay Kay Menon, and Taapsee Pannu along with Akshay Kumar. Kumar plays a secret agent who gets hold of a terrorist and tries his best to save his country and countrymen from terrorist attacks. Baby was critically and commercially successful, earning about 150 crores. Akshay Kumar’s performance was generously praised by the critics and some even called it his best performance till date. 2. Airlift

Airlift is another thriller movie starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur. It released in 2016 and earned around 230 crores at the box office. This movie is about a businessman living in Kuwait who is responsible for evacuating the Indians out of that place after Saddam Hussain invaded Kuwait. It was based on the real-life incidents of Mathunny Mathews who had done something of this kind in the year 1990. Kumar plays the role of Ranjit Kayal, the businessman who stands up to the forces of Iraq and helps his countrymen move to safety. Airlift is one of the best films of 2016.

3. Rustom

Rustom is a 2016 film depicting the real events surrounding a Naval Officer named K.M. Nanavati who was accused of murdering businessman Prem Ahuja. The role of the naval officer was brilliantly played by Kumar. The film also starred ‘Ileana D Cruz’, and Arjan Bajwa. It earned 215 crores approximately. The movie was critically acclaimed and cemented Akshay Kumar’s position as a serious and thoughtful actor.

4. Khiladi

Any list related to Akshay Kumar is incomplete without mentioning Khiladi. Released in 1992, Khiladi went on to become Kumar’s first major hit film and his path to stardom. His skills as an action hero were displayed in this film which also stars Ayesha Jhulka and Deepak Tijori. The film became so famous that a brand name was created after it. Several Khiladi movies released in the subsequent years, like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi, Khiladi 420, etc. Akshay Kumar tasted his first success with this film, and a star was etched permanently in the sky of Bollywood.

5. Khatta Meetha

Khatta Meetha is a 2010 comedy film starring Akshay Kumar and Trisha Krishnan. Here, Akshay played the role of a common man who is struggling to live life comfortably, let alone chasing his dreams. 7. Hera Pheri

A psychological thriller, Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the Hindi version of a movie that had already been adapted into different languages. Here, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a psychiatrist who arrives at an old mansion to solve the mystery of a supposed haunting by a famous dancer of yesteryear. Reaching there, he comes across the manifestation of a mental disorder which has been termed the dissociative personality disorder by researchers. 9. Special 26

This 2013 film is a crime thriller depicting the real event of a group of fake CBI officers conducting a raid on a reputed jewelry merchant in Mumbai. Kumar plays the character of Ajay who works with a team of heist criminals. The film was praised by critics and viewers alike, some calling it the best film of 2013. Along with Akshay Kumar, it starred Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, etc.

10. Mohra

Mohra, released in 1994, is a political thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon in the lead roles, along with Suniel Shetty and Naseeruddin Shah. The film was highly praised and nominated for several awards. Its songs are loved even today. Akshay Kumar played the role of Inspector Amar Saxena who did his job against crime and criminals honestly. The film became the second highest earner of 1994.
