Abhishek Bachchan Films That Were Really Bad

Abhishek Bachchan Films That Were Really Bad Hindi Article

Abhishek Bachchan has been in a lot of movies, and not all of them have been good. In fact, some of them have been really bad, and have sunk on the box office like no film ever has. From the beginning of his career, he has been struggling hard to establish his name in Bollywood but has been continually failing. Today we will be discussing 20 of his films that were extraordinarily bad.

1. Drona

One of the most bizarre films ever, it first showed Abhishek Bachchan as something similar to Harry Potter, and then he became the warrior prince with superhuman Indian strength. Throughout the film, Abhishek looks tired, and Goldie Bahl’s attempt to make a fantasy ends in nothing concrete due to the bumpy screen play, clumsy SFX and passionless performances.

2. Players

The movie had been inspired from The Italian Job and was its Indian remake. The movie had been a success abroad and its Indian version was expected to do the same, since the script was a brilliant piece of art. However, the director duo Abbas Mastan gave it twists and turns that is signature to them and turned the script into a lousy something that produced more laughter than thrill.

3. Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya

More than anything else, this movie is an embarrassment to its cast. When the movie released, the audiences were curious as they were going to see former love birds Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor together, but things did not work out as the plot was messy, with a love triangle surviving on misunderstandings and infidelity.

4. Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa

The movie is an unofficial remake of the Hollywood film Picture Perfect that starred Jennifer Aniston. In the movie, Abhishek Bachchan acts as man with a good heart belonging to Agra who covers great lengths to help a woman who wants to make it big in Bollywood. Needless to say, the film did not do half as well as it was accepted to do.

5. Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke

The duo may be married today and may have delivered a huge hit like ‘Guru’, but their first film together, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, was far from being a hit. The duo were said to lack chemistry, and all the fault of the film’s going down was out on the actors, as Raj Kanwar had already been giving decent romances till then. It was inspired by the Hollywood film A Walk In The Clouds.

6. Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost

In this film, a man comes to a village with a satellite connection and a television. The village has just acquired electricity. The films seems to be an attempt to recreate the ‘Lagaan’ magic but we all know the difference between Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan so what we are left with is pretty silly.

7. Umrao Jaan

The original film that starred ‘Rekha’ had been a huge hit. But when J P Dutta attempted to retell the story with the story of finding love and losing it, it becomes pure mockery. The actors seem uncomfortable with the heavy Urdu that is an integral part of their dialogues, and there is nothing in the film that can save it.

8. Game

Every list in 2011 that talked about the worst movies of the year had Game in it. The film’s screenplay was sensible enough, but unnecessary globetrotting and another slacking performance by Amitabh Bachchan was more than enough to drown the script. It had a lot more style than substance, which lead to its downfall.

9. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

The film has an elaborate cast, constant dance performances, senseless catchphrases and entirely uninspired performances along with an Indo Pak connection that rises out of the blue. The film does everything it possible can in its attempt to entertain, trying all the old tricks, but still fails miserably. Amitabh too is a part of the film, and wears hilarious outfits with an equally hilarious beard.

10. Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon

This was one film by Bachchan that failed, but could not be blamed on him. Perhaps his only film that had him acting decently, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon failed because of its other actors. Over the top, loud acting took down this Sooraj Barjatya film.

11. Antarmahal

Set in 19th century Bengal, the film does well when it comes to reviving traditional Bengali jewelry as it had been on a rapid decline. Other than that, the film failed to impress and the actors too did not seem to have put in their all in their performances, despite having Jackie Shroff among them.

12. Shararat

The script of the film may not be the best, but it had some elements that could have resonated really well with the audience had the actors made a genuine effort. The dialogues are frequently tacky, and Abhishek Bachchan is not given a very good character. Even though Rahul has his moment of realisation, he is never good enough to actually appeal to the audience.

13. Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai

Abhishek Bachchan plays the character of Sooraj, who is a small town boy with big dreams. He moves to Mumbai to fulfill his dreams and comes into the eyes of his mentor, played by Jackie Shroff. Jackie, who has ulterior motives, starts a channel with Sooraj, who becomes a rich man but loses his innocence and the girl he loved, who is played by Rani Mukerji.

14. Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

In this film, Rani Mukerji plays a woman who forces herself into prostitution so that she can fulfill the needs of her family. She tries her best to hide it from her family, but must reveal it to the man she is to marry, who is played by Abhishek Bachchan. It is later revealed that Abhishek Bachchan was aware of it all along and has no problems with her former profession.

15. Raavan

The film had a great plot at its core. It was a fresh concept but its portrayal was what took away a big hit from Abhishek Bachchan. Aiswarya Rai Bachchan is the wife of a police officer and Abhishek Bachchan must take revenge from the officer so he kidnaps his wife. Soon, the two start to fall for each other after which the plot unfolds.

16. Dum Maaro Dum

The film has a multi-starrer cast and a good enough topic to begin with. Drugs and the youth’s involvement with it is a probing issue and if dealt with sensitivity and tact, it can produce good films. Moreover, Abhishek played a cop, which he does pretty well, as we have seen in the Dhoom series. However, the film was focusing more on presenting its twists and showing off its cast than on the plot, which was not great to begin with.

17. Bol Bachchan

The film was supposed to be a comedy, and the audience did laugh, at the paltry effort made by Rohit Shetty. The director was focused much more on defying gravity by making cars collide and fly than on the plot of his film. It was supposed to be a spin-off of the classic film ‘Golmaal’, but turned out to be a mockery.

18. Housefull 3

It was a multi starrer film sequel and the first film of the series had been a hit. However, Abhishek came on board in the third installment. By now the audience had become bored of watching the same plot with little alteration and a complete lack of script. Needless to say, not only did the film not do well, it was also heavily criticized for mocking especially abled people.

19. All Is Well

The film had a story that was capable of pulling the strings of the audience, it had a cast that included actors like Rishi Kapoor and Supriya Pathak, but is still failed at the box office as the story stretched on and on. Moreover it shows fickleness in relationships as important as that between father and son, which makes matter worse for the film.

20. Naach

This was perhaps one of the biggest flops of Abhishek Bachchan’s career, where a lot of money was lost. The film focused on a struggling actor and a struggling choreographer. When the actor makes it big, he tries to help the choreographer who refuses his help. They then break up, after which the choreographer makes it big too. Soon, there is a chance for them to work together, and then the story unfolds.
