10 Bollywood Movies On Which Censor Board Used A Scissor (2016-2017) Hindi Article

India swoons over Bollywood and well Bollywood swears by the Censor Board. A board which has all the rights to either cut scenes from any movie or to even stop the film from releasing in India, in the name of protecting the viewers, as in the case of “Lipstick in my Burkha,” a film which was not allowed to release even in theaters in India. However, here is a list of 10 movies from 2016-2017 which released after going through the scissors.

1. Kya Kool Hain Hum 3


Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 was released in the theaters after passing through a whooping of 150 cuts, as ordered by the Censor Board of India. CBFC, later even released an official document stating exactly where the cuts were made, and which dialogues were changed, as of the word ‘dick’ was replaced by ’encyclopedia.’

3. Do Lafzon Ki Kahani

Besides censoring the kiss to 9 seconds, the Board even asked for the deletion of some abusive words, such as ‘kutte’ and ‘saale.’

4. Rustom


Rustom was censored by the Board to delete two cuss words from the movie, because usually plays clean roles, and thus abuses will not sound good from him. Rustom got passed with a U/A Certificate after the words got removed.


5. Mirzya


The Action-Thriller movie, Mirzya was supposed to have 50 cuts made by the Censor Board initially, Surprisingly, later on, the Board agreed to pass the film with a mere of 7 cuts. Some words got muted, some logos blurred, and the film got a U/A certificate. Funnily, words were even muted in a song, where drug abuse was being referred to.

6. Befikre

However, despite having lots of kisses in the movie, it was passed to be released after being given a U/A certificate.

 7. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil suffered from 5 major as well as some minor cuts by the CBFC, to be released. A scene in a café between Aishwarya and Ranbir got removed from the movie, and Anushka’s kissing scenes in the film were shortened by half their duration in the movie whenever it came, as asked by the Board. Further, some dialogues were changed, and the film was given a U/A certificate.

A film based on controversies and drug problems in a state of India, Punjab, managed to release itself, after a lot of difficulties. Udta Punjab got 13 cuts by the Censor Board, and U/A Certificate, before release. Funnily, one change asked by the CBFC was to remove a Board stating the name Punjab, when the whole movie was actually on the issues of that state.

9. Rangoon

Replacement of the words ‘Bastard’ and ‘Bakchod’ by the ones ‘Rascal’ and ‘Bakchor,’ were made in the movie Rangoon by the Censor Board, to be released after the grant of a U/A Certificate. 

10. Phillauri

CBFC again comes in the news with the recent release of the movie Phillauri. The makers of the film are asked to mute Hanuman Chalisa Hanuman Chalisa is aired on Bhakthi TV at 6:30 am >> Read More... Hanuman Chalisa , by the Censor Board. Funnily, the reason given for this was that it failed to scare away ghosts, and thus it would hurt religious sentiments of some particular communities.
