Ramendra Kumar also known as Ramen is an Indian writer who writes for children and has won many Awards. He has written over thirty books in English. He also dampens in adult fiction, satire, travelogues, non-fiction, and poetry. He also has its website named “www.ramendra.in.” He was born in Hyderabad which is a city in the Indian state of Telangana. He has completed his schooling from Hyderabad Public School which is situated in Begumpet (a neighborhood of Hyderabad). He has also done Engineering. After completed his Engineering, he did MBA (Masters’ in Business Administration).
Later on, he shifted to Rourkela where he got a job in Rourkela Steel Plant. His wife name is Madhavi. Ramendra is well-settled with his wife Madhavi in Rourkela. They both have one son and one daughter. His son name is “Aniket,” and daughter name is “
.” He also has a Labrador dog named “
.” Ramen started writing poetry and satire in the starting of his career. But the consistent insisting of his daughters to write stories he decided to shift to children’s fiction. In the year 1997, his first book was released for children. After that, his work got published by many well-established, and popular names like Hachette, Penguin, National Book Trust, Children’s Book Trust, Pratham, Mahal, Vikas, and much more. In the series named “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” his stories were published. His work gained so much recognition that they made their entry in magazines, newspapers and even textbooks. Also, one of his stories has been adapted as the traditional form of storytelling in Japan named “Kamishibai.” In many other boards like ICSE and CBSE, his stories have been included in the curriculum of students. long with this, his stories have been published in many schools in abroad as well. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) have included his six books in the curriculum of the students in India. He is also a popular and active blogger and has contributed in many e-zines like Bonobology.com, Week.In, TeekhiMirchi.In, ParentEdge.in, and much more. From the last couple of years, Ramen is working as a leader of Children’s festivals, literature, workshops, seminars, etc. organized by Bookaroo Trust, Lions Club International, IGNOU, etc.
Ramendra has also won many Awards in his career. In many competitions organized for writers of children’s books, he has won around 26 National Awards. At 31st IBBY World Congress held in the year 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Ramen did the honor of presenting a paper.
