, is an actor cum producer predominantly in Telugu cinema and also worked in a few Tamil films. He was born on 9th July 1927, in Ravikampadu, Andhra Pradesh. He had a passion for acting since childhood and did his education at Hindu College, Machilipatnam, after that he came into the film profession. He had a family, a wife, five daughters and two sons. When he entered the film industry, he was at the age of acting. But he refused. He got the opportunity to act as a hero in Jamuna Nayika, a folk film. The shooting was paused for several days. From the beginning, he had been playing roles that were older than him. But he loved those roles. One of the wonderful roles played in his career was Mahamantri Thimmarusu. In that film, he was taken because his voice and body was perfect for the role. Gummadi received critical recognition for his work in Thodu Dongalu in 1954 and Mahamantri Timmarusu in 1962 for which he received the then Rashtrapati Award. Beyond his contributions to cinema, he represented South India at the Tashkent Film Festival in 1978 and 1982. He has done nearly 500 films, throughout his career that shows his versatility across different genres.

, and twice on the State Nandi Awards Committee. In 1977, In recognition of his remarkable impact on Indian cinema, he was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award. Over the years, Gummadi played significant roles in several iconic films, such as Mayabazar, Jyothi, and Nelavanka, earning admiration for his powerful screen presence and his last film in which he appeared was Jagadguru Sree Kasinayana Charitra which released on 2008. In his last public appearance, Gummadi attended the colorized screening of Mayabazar, a film close to his heart. He was full of emotions, he said that witnessing the classic in color felt like a fulfilling moment in his life, but unfortunately he died of multiple organ failure at Care Hospital in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, on 26th January 2010.
