Gummadi Venkateswara Rao was a popular Telugu actor cum producer. He has also shown his face in some Tamil films too. He worked as a character artist. His films count exceeds 500. His birth place is Ravikampudu in Andhra Pradesh. He was famous for his role as a father and also renowned for his roles in mythological movies. He has performed all kinds of roles like a hero, villain, comedian and character artist. He was a stage actor in the beginning. His first entry on the stage was in the year 1942, as an old man. In the film Missama, he acted in a guest role along with Savithri Ganesan. The film had Akkineni Nageshwar Rao in the lead role. Gummadi Venkateswara Rao has five daughters and two sons. He has acted in the bilingual movie Maya Bazaar. When the film was reprinted and reprocessed in color printing, he was very happy, as his movie was again released to be shown to the younger generation. He has done varieties of roles as a doctor, farmer, Chief Minister, Policeman and Principal and many more. He has received the Padma Shri award from the government of India in the year 1977. He was also the proud recipient of Rashtarapathi Awards and Nandi Awards. He breathed his last breathe in the year 2010 at the age of 82.
