Damini Bhatla

Damini Bhatia is an upcoming playback singer in Tollywood. It is not herself alone, but her sister to has forayed into singing together in films. Remember the songs of Baahubali - Sivuni Aana and Pacha Bottasi? These two songs were sung by two sisters Mounima and Damini Bhatla. Damini was brought up in Hyderabad, and in order to get a break in singing, they had sent their demos to music director M.M. Keeravani.

It was mere luck that they got a call from the studio and were asked to be present in Prasad Labs. Damini had been spotted by the music director Keeravani in singing reality shows, and she has been working with him for one year. As usual, the singer was made to sing a stanza of the song ‘ Siivni Aana’ with music composer Keeravani. Although she has sung a small portion of the song, she finds that her debut in Kollywood as a playback singer is a total success.

She recorded this song when she was just 20. Damini has given her first playback singing in a Malayalam movie called ‘Love In London’ starring Prithviraj. But this singer was nervous while giving audition for Baahubali because it was a prestigious project from Rajamouli. A mistake in the audition could even make her career in Kollywood. Her mentor Keeravani gave some suggestions after hearing the song, and she had followed exactly his advice, and the song had come out well. When she recorded her songs for ‘Baahubali’, she was pursuing BA in Carnatic music from Telugu University and was also getting trained up in Western vocals.

This singer wants to be an independent musician and singer and wants to be an independent artist instead of waiting for opportunities to come forward. The duo sisters have joined hands together to form a musical band called ‘Classically Mild’, and occasionally performed on stage shows in Hyderabad. Damini worships music composers like AR Rahman and Illaiyaraaja and greatest admirer of these two musicians. Although the two singers have chosen music industry as their ultimate goal, two sisters are different in their approach. Even they have a stiff and healthy competition amongst them when singing is concerned with music to them is divine.

They do not have any musical guru in their family, but their mother has been the real source of inspiration for them. Her father has been guiding force for both the sisters but it was their will, determination and seriousness in singing pushed them to the music industry. Now it is their choice, after being trained, how far they achieve their goals?
