G Manohar Naidu, who is commonly known as the cosmetics man as he made cassettes affordable. He started his profession as a cosmetics salesman and later became the biggest cassette industrialist in South India. He has even been honored by the Karnataka Government for his work. On November 1, he met many social workers, writers and others recognized Kannadigas. The Chief Minister of Karnataka, ‘S M Krishna’ granted the Rajyotsava award to Naidu for his work in the music industry.

Manohar Naidu joined the music industry by accident. He had been serving as a Cosmetics Dealer. A client of him was happy with his good performance and presented him a Tape Recorder. Manohar Naidu saw this as a good business potential. He used the tape to record songs from a record player and began trading his own pre-recorded cassettes.

It was in 1980s, when he started recording. It was the era when music players were not much in use. But he used his gramophone; that was what he named it served as an advance and unique technique for the cassette player handlers, and people started buying the cassettes. The new idea was so popular that even in smaller towns and cities people became fond of it and started buying it.

With 500 rupees in hand Naidu started his company named Lahari Music. He made people aware of some recognized unique outlets for his tapes. Cigarette stalls, Bangle shops, and Electronic spare shops started selling his tapes.

Lahari has given music for most of the movies and currently is one of the major and the most profitable company which looks for big hits, big movies, and targets their mass market. The company has concurrently produced folk, Sugam Sangeeta, and Classical Albums. 'M.Balamuralikrishna' has recorded for Lahari and has also earned the Basavaraj Rajguru.

A Telugite by birth, he has done his schooling in Karnataka. Naidu is a self-made businessman. Lahari's more clear face is his brother ‘Tulsiram Naidu’. For the last couple of years, the company has started selling their tapes at the rate of 20 rupees. Manohar Naidu has taken over many of small recording companies. He has plans of setting a State Art Recording Studio in Bangalore. His office in Chamarajpet is filled with Cassette Tape Reels, Shells, People, and Machines, and he has been thinking of moving the office into a new and wider place.

Lahari owns over 6,200 degrees. It is the top cassette company in the South Industry. Manohar Naidu has worked in the film production of two Kannada movies.
