Sagar Mahati is the son of acclaimed music director
Mani Sharma, a music director known for his work in Telugu and Tamil films. His parents are Mani Sharma and Sree Vani Sharma, and his grandparent is Y. N. Sharma. His father is known for recording some melodious songs of S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and K.S. Chithra in Tollywood.
While his father has recorded for as many as 175 films in Telugu and Tamil, the son Sagar Mahati has just made his debut with ‘Jaadoogadu’ movie. He lives in Chennai with his parents. With the release of the album, the initial response to the songs was very impressive.
Jadoogadu' was a 2015 Telugu film produced by V.V.N Prasad under the banner Sathyaa Entertainments and directed by Yogie. The music composer was reportedly, grateful to the producer and director for giving his first break in Telugu movie.
The soundtrack of this movie was produced under the banner of Mango Music and at the audio launch of the film was held on April 21, 2015, it saw participation of a galaxy of yesteryear celebrities. Possibly the yesteryear celebrities came to bless the debut music director Wagar Mathathi as his father gave blockbuster musical hits in his time.
In his first movie, the music composer composed five song tracks. They included numbers like the promotional song 'Jadoogadu' sung by
Ramya Behara. The lyrics for this composition was by Srimani.
Also, there was a solo number by two singers Uma Beha and
Kunal Ganjawala. The song was 'Masugudu' by Uma which had lyrics by
Varikuppala Yadagiri, and the other number by Kunal was 'Kadha Mdrierga' which had lyrics by Viswa.
There were also two duet numbers in this movie, and they included the track by
Sweekar Agasthi & Manasi M.M ("Gola Cheddame") and
Vijay Prakash & Ramya Behara("ABC, ABC"). The lyrics were penned for two duet songs by Varikuppala Yadagiri and Srimani respectively.
The music composer started his career as a keyboard player and worked as an assistant to many music directors. Yogie, the director of this movie had encouraged him a lot, and he selected him to score tunes for this flick.
Thus, he got his first break in ’Jadoogadu.’ His experience helped him give a unique kind of music, he could come up with an apt score for this movie. Sagar Mahati also loves to score for western tunes.
His passion for music composition was inherited right from his childhood days. As usual, he used to pay a visit to various recording theaters which were owned by his grandfather and, he also accompanied his father on many occasions, and thus established himself successfully in the film world.
He is not the only admirer of his dad’s work but is fond of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music and Kalyani Malik’s music too. His father has been very supportive of his first movie album songs, and he used to receive a lot of feedback from his father. Such feedbacks he incorporated as his dad's suggestions, and this worked wonderfully for his first album.
Sagar Mahati also scored for another Telugu movie '
Eedu Gold Ehe' produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara and the film is written and directed by
Veeru Potla. The film released in October 2016. Artists like
Roll Rida has sung the song 'Mecanos Gold.' While artists like Vijay Prakash, Ramya Behara has sung the song the duet number 'Kopaalenduku Babai'.
‘Preme Kavalandi’, was another duet song sung by Haricharan and Divya Divakar. And finally, one more duet song '
Geetha' was sung by
Uma Neha and Narendra in this movie. This music director has a long way to go before he climbs the first step of his father's illustrious musical career.
