Telugu actress Gayatri Rao is based at Hyderabad. After completing her plus 2 examinations in St. Anns School, she dreamt of becoming an actress. Although the actress was interested in getting into films, she could make her entry only when she attained the exact age for it.

Besides her love of acting, she is a trained classical singer in both Hindustani and Carnatic music. She is a well-known performer in various musical instruments such as the veena, sitar, and mridangam. Apart from learning music, the actress was a trained Kuchipudi dancer right from her childhood.
