Bhavana is an Indian actress who is a recognized face in the south Indian film industry. She has done more than seventy-five movies in a decade’s career in multiple languages of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. She was born on 6th June 1986 in Thrissur district of Kerala as Karthika Menon to G. Balachandran, an assistant cinematographer, and his wife, Pushpa. She has an elder sibling, Jayadev. She attended the Holy Family Girls’ High School in Chembukkavu, Thrissur.
She aspired to become an actress since she was a child, and as a five-year-old, she would often re-enact actress Amala’s scenes from the Malayalam movie “Ente Sooryaputhrikku” (1991). She was even persistent in trying to imitate the scene where Amala jumps out of a window and breaks her arm. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster, and Bhavana was honored with the Kerala State Film Award – Special Mention. She also received the Asianet Film Award for best-supporting actress for the same. Her first movie in 2002 paved her way for sixteen more in the coming three years, including “C.I.D. Moosa” (2003), “Chathikkatha Chanthu” (2004) and “Daivanamathil” (2005).
For her performance in Daivamathil, Bhavana won the Kerala State Award for second best actress and her second Asianet award for best-supporting actress. In 2006, Bhavana played the lead role of Charumathi in her Tamil debut movie “

On 17th February 2017, Bhavana became the victim of a tragic incident where she was kidnaped and molested by a gang. She was traveling home from Kochi when a van rammed her car’s rear near Athani, Angamaly, following which, her chauffeur, Martin, got involved in a fight with the three men in the van.
The gang beat the driver and hijacked Bhavana’s car with her as a hostage. They drove around the city for more than hours during which they sexually harassed her and recorded the whole act. They threw her out of the car near Kakkanad and fled. Bhavana later filed an FIR with the police and named her former driver as one of the criminals.
