Chilakalapudi Seeta Rama Anjaneyulu, commonly known as C. S. R. Anjaneyulu or CSR, is a well-known Indian actor and thespian of Telugu Cinema and theater. He is best known for his stage works and portraying Indian mythological characters. He is one of the well-known artists of that reign. 11 July 1907 was the birth time of CSR and he was born on Chilakalapudi, India. His zodiac sign was Cancer.

He belonged to a Telugu Brahmin family. After completing his schooling, he started working as cooperative supervisor. But his interest in drama followed him. In a very short time span, he gained giant fame in the field of acting and drama. Singing was a god-gifted talent to him. He sang poems very well. Most of the movies in which he worked were in Telugu but a few movies like “Bhakta Kuchela” were in Malayalam or other language. He made his entry to the film industry in 1932 with the movie, “Rama Paduka Pattabhishekam” which was excerpt of the revered piece of Hindus, The Ramayana.

He also produced and directed a drama on the theme of untouchability, Patita Pavana. After the success of the drama Tukaram, he donated Rs10000/- from the collected amount to the Indian National Army that was led by Subhas Chandra Bose. He was a patriotic person. In 1937, his movie Bhakta Ramadasu became a super hit. In 1950s, he was seen in “Pathala Bhairavi” as the king of Ujjain who tries to rescue his daughter from the kidnap of a wicked magician and the movie was blockbuster. At the first International Film Festival of India, Pathala Bhairavi was screened. His famous movies are: “Draupadi Vastrapaharanam” in1936 in which he played the role of Lord Krishna, “ Balaji Bio coming soon... >> Read More... ” in 1939 in which he played the role of Venketeshwara, “Paduka Pattabhishekam” in which he acted as Lord Rama, and many more.

One of his best acted movies is “Mayabazar” in which he portrayed Shakuni who is well known for playing mind games. He has worked in over 175 movies in his lifetime. His siblings are also associated with the film industry. He worked for three decades in the industry. His movie “Chitti Tammudu” was the last movie that got released in front of his eyes i.e. in 1962 but “Bobbilli Yuddham” was his last film that was released in 1964 after his death. C. S. R. died at an early age of 56 on 8 October 1963, leaving his imprints on the industry forever.
