Basavaraju Venkata Padmanabha Rao was born in the year 1931 to Basavaraju Venkata Seshayya and Santham in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. He was a Telugu comedy actor, director and the producer. Basavaraju Venkata Padmanabha Rao was known as Padmanabham by his close acquaintances. He began his career as a theatre artist. He was the co-founder of the theatre group Rekha and Murali Arts. Vallam Narasimha Rao and Basavaraju Venkata Padmanabha Rao ran the theatre group successfully. Mayalokam was the debut movie of Padmanabham. From Mayalokam till Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila, he acted in more than 400 movies. In 1949, he acted in the movie named Shavukaru and it was a sensational hit on those days.
