Aradyula Venkata Subbarao is a Telugu stage actor, playwright, verse singer, film actor, and producer. He was born in 1930. He is also known as AV Subbarao. He is known through films like Sri Kalahastiswara Mahatyam, Mane Aliya, and Mavana Magalu. His other works include Pellikani Thandri, Prana Mithrulu, Chandrahasa, Pandava Vanavasam, Marmayogi, Seetha Rama Kalyanam, and many more. He made verses, and his poetic recitals were on gramophone records. He has starred in various dramatic productions like Shri Krishna Raibaram, Gayopakhyanam, Kurukshetram, Shri Krishna Tulabharam, Ramanjaneyayudham, and Chintamani. In 1953, he founded Prasad Art Pictures Private Limited. Subbarao is from Guntur district Anantavaram in Kollur Mandal.
After his education, he was into farming. He later developed an interest in theatre and became a fine stage actor. He established the Sri Purnasri Natyakala Samiti in 1960. He flourished in dramas for nearly 30 years. He played the role of Kampanna Dora in the action-adventure comedy Palletooro Pilla. He produced Mane Aliya in 1964, which won two National film awards, including a certificate of merit for the third-best feature film. Subbarao has seven daughters and three sons, two of whom, Aradyula Koteswara Rao and Aradyula Venkateswara Rao, are stage actors. He passed away on 26 December 2010.
