A L Ramesh

A.L.Ramesh is a film editor of the ‘Tamil’ and ‘Telugu’ film industry in India. He was born in the town of ‘Eraniel’ in the state of ‘Tamil Nadu’. ‘Ayyapan Asari’ is his father. He started his career with the TV serials. A production company, namely ‘Radaan Mediaworks’, came up with a show, ‘Chithi’. It was a daily soap opera that was broadcasted on the channel, ‘Sun TV’, in ‘Tamil’. Ramesh had done the editing work for the serial. The show had actors like ‘Yuvarani’, ‘Hemalatha’, ‘Vijay Adhiraj’, ‘Latha Sethupathi, Radika, Anju, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Sivakumar, Ajay Rathnam, Poovilangu Mohan’, ‘Tharika’, and ‘Riyaz Khan’. This show was a hit and the most watched TV serial in regional languages. It was broadcasted in Sri Lanka, and United Kingdom also. He entered the film industry in 2009, with Nadantha Kathai-Shortfilm. For this movie, he had received a nomination for the best editor (Vijay Awards). In the same year, he edited another film, ‘Naadodigal’. With a dramatic thriller genre, ‘S. Michael Rayappan’ had produced this movie and ‘Samuthirakani’ had directed it. The stars included ‘Vijay Vasanth’, ‘Abhinaya’, ‘Bharani’, ‘Shanthini Deva’, ‘Ganja Karuppu’, and ‘Sasikumar’. The movie was a huge hit and one of the most famous ‘Tamil’ films of 2009. In 2010, he edited ‘Easan’(Tamil), and ‘Shambo Shiva Shambo’(Telugu). ‘M. Sasikumar’ had directed and produced the former, and ‘Samuthirakani’ had directed the latter. In ‘Easan’, famed actors like ‘Vaibhav’, ‘Abhinaya’, ‘Samuthirakani’’, and ‘Alagappan’ had worked. In ‘Shambo Shiva Shambo’, ‘Allari Naresh’, ‘Priyamani’, ‘Ravi Teja’, ‘Siva Balaji’, and ‘Abhinaya’ were the actors. Both the movies were a blockbuster hit. ‘Poraali’, a ‘Tamil’ picture, was released in 2011. ‘Samuthirakani’ had directed and written the film and ‘Ramesh’ were the editor in work. The film had actors like ‘Swati’, ‘M. Sasikumar’, ‘Ganja Karuppu’, ‘Vasundhara’, and ‘Niveda’. The film was rated an excellent one. In 2012, he edited ‘Kochi’ To ‘Kodambakkam’. ‘Venu Pradeep’ had directed this film, and ‘Thomas Kokkat’ and ‘Vijins’ had produced it. In the next year, he was the editor of Breaking News Live, a movie produced by ‘Ranjith Kumar’ and directed by ‘Sudheer Ambalappaadu’. In the same year, he came up with two other movies, ‘Nugam’, and ‘Pattathu Yaanai’. ‘Nugam’, with a dramatic genre, had ‘Preethi’, ‘Vijayakumar’, ‘Jeybala’, and ‘Iniya’ as the role players. Whereas, ‘Pattathu Yaanai’ was an action film with ‘Aishwarya Arjun’ and ‘Vishal Krishna’ as the main characters. ‘Ivanuku Thannila Gandam’ and ‘Vetrivel’ were released in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Both the movies were a hit. The year 2016 was fruitful for Ramesh. He came up with two other films the same year, ‘Adhagappattathu Magajanangalay’, and ‘Appa’.


B. Lenin

B. Lenin (Bhimsingh Lenin) is primarily a Tamil film editor who has also worked as a writer and film maker. Apart from Tamil movies, he has worked in Malayalam and Hindi films. His career as an assistant editor started in 1979 with Uthiripookkal by director J. Mahendran. He worked as assistant editor with his father in many films before he debuted as an independent editor. He has also worked as a lab technician and he is an experienced sound engineer. During the decades of 1980s and 1990s, he partnered with his old assistant V. T. Vijayan and worked with him in over 100 Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu films, including Geethanjali, Nayakan, and Anjali and Kadhalan, for which they were honoured with the National Award for best editing. Lenin has won five National Awards till 2013 which also includes an award for best direction. In 2010, Lenin was a jury member at the 57th National Film Awards. In 2011, he was appointed the chairman of the Oscar Selection Committee of Film Federation of India. Lenin debuted as a director in 1983 with Ethanai Konam Ethanai Paarvai. After that he directed eight more films, four out of which were feature films and four were non-feature films. In 1992 he came up with a short film titled Knock Out and critically it was a huge success. Knock Out won the award for Best Short Film (Islamia Critic Awards) at Cairo International Film Festival. Knock Out also won the National Award for "Best First Non-Feature Film of a Director". The jury appreciated this film very much. After 3 years, Lenin directed another short film titled "Kutravali" and won the National Award for best editing. He won the "Best Regional Film (Tamil)" award and "Best Direction" award in 2002 for Ooruku Nooruper. This film told about the issue of capital punishment and it was critically acclaimed. Apart from movies, Lenin has also directed some television shows, one of them being Solladi Sivasakthi. He also worked on Eli My Friend, which is an English film. Lenin was born to a popular Hindi and Tamil filmmaker A. Bhimsingh and has eight siblings. One of his brothers, B. Kannan is also a part of the film industry and is a cinematographer by profession.
