Blue Sattai Maran

C Elamaran, aka Blue Sattai Maran, is a film critic, actor cum film director in the Tamil entertainment industry. He was born in Pudhupettai, Chennai. He has three brothers. Maran is a school dropout. As per his father’s suggestion, he joined his uncles’ business in film distribution in Madurai. His journey with the entertainment industry started when he was 15.

Before becoming a movie reviewer, Maran tried his hands at different businesses. He is involved in the Tamil movie business, including Suriya’s Vel, Bharath’s Seval, and Superstar’s Lingaa. He has also worked for Ram Babu Productions, distributing Kannada films. Maran has also worked as an assistant to the personal manager of a popular Tamil actor.

When Maran decided to launch a YouTube channel for movie reviewing in 2012, he reached nearly 50 people to host. As none were interested, he decided to host the show. Maran is famous for his colloquial way of reviewing movies with sarcasm.

In 2021, Maran directed Anti Indian, a political satire film, where he played the lead role. But, after appealing it further to the court, a fresh committee was appointed to censor the film, which suggested 3 changes and certified the film with UA.
