To be like his father, Prabhakar Pendharkar has worked a lot of times with him. He gained a livelihood in Rajkamal Studio of V. Shantaram in his initial days. Prabhakar Pendharkar took a job in the magazine Deepavali as a writer to follow his passion.

Prabhakar Pendharkar has penned several novels like Chakrivadal, Arey Sansar Sansar, and Racing Dhang. He has also jotted down a story named Pratiksha. The book Pratiksha has helped Prabhakar Pendharkar to gain recognition. Eka Studiochi Atmkatha is his other book which has earned an award. Apart from writing, he was also a part of the movie Toofan Aur Deeya as a second department director in 1956. Prabhat Kumar has directed the movie Toofan Aur Deeya. G. D. Prabhakar Pendharkar has gained a lot of awards. In 1970, Pendharkar earned National Film Award for Best Promotional Film for Weave Me Some Flowers, in 1987 National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Animation Film for A.B. See, in 1970 National Film Award for Best Educational/Motivational/Instructional Film for Forest and The Man, in 2010 National Film Award – Special Jury Award and Special Mention for Eka Studioche Atmavrutta, and in 1996 National Film Award for Best Historical Reconstruction and Compilation Film for Bhalji Pendharkar. After giving so many masterpieces to the entertainment industry in 2010, Prabhakar Pendharkar left everyone with all his memories.
