Dipti Joshi

Dipti Joshi is a Marathi actress known for her roles in several movies and Marathi television series. She is popular for the series Maza Hoshil Na, aired on Zee Marathi, where she portrays the role of Gulprit Brahme, Prabhakar’s wife. Joshi is also known for her role as Aruna Aunty in the Hindi movie Beyond Blue: An unnerving tale of a demented mind. The flick circumnavigates the life of Manas, a white-collar professional, who cannot bring himself to have anything other than the food that used to be cooked by his mother when she was alive. His urge to accept nothing else drives him almost crackers, and that leads him to a world of his mind’s making. The movie was released in the year 2012 and was a success to the extent of being touted as a glimmer of hope for the Gujarati cinema. In the movie, Joshi is seen playing the role of Jyotsnaben Bachubhai Patel. The film is a satire on the preoccupation of Patels (Gujarati community of farmers) to migrate to America to own a motel.

Joshi has another successful project to her credit. She is a part of the hit movie Tattad, released early in February 2020. Tattad is a Marathi movie that was lauded for its star cast and its performances. The flick was written and directed by the debutant Rahul Gautam Ovhal. The story pivots around the life of a clarinet player Santya, who at the request of his ailing grandmother decides to marry. However, he does not like any girl. When he finally does, the girl’s Uncle objects to her marriage with a small-time musician. As a result, Santya resolves to make it big in his career. In the movie, Dipti Joshi plays the role of Mami, the girl’s maternal aunt. Tattad performed quite well at the box office and was commended for its direction and characterization.
